OUR PLEDGE

By April 2019 we would like to improve our existing recycling systems by introducing a new colour coded bin system throughout the back of house to further reduce the amount of waste destined to the landfill. By making it as easy and intuitive as possible, we aim to make it an easy choice for our staff to ensure they’re separating out the waste effectively and efficiently.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY STORY

"The choices we make as business operators reflects back on our own personal views; what products we choose to sell, which companies we choose to support, all of these decisions have an impact on us, our staff and our customers. We’ve always believed in doing our part and making decisions based on what’s right, rather than what’s easy.

For this fact we’ve loved being involved with Conscious Consumers from the early stages of their inception as it’s helped us learn and grow into a better more sustainable business.”

“Working in a large hospitality venue like The Cross, it’s nice to see in action how little decisions and changes in behaviour can lead to a larger overall goal to be more sustainable. Working with the team and educating them on our business and why we do the things we do makes all the difference when it comes to getting everyone on the same page doing their bit too.”

Barry, Duty Manager

“As a chef, I’m always on the look-out for fresh local and free-range produce to help inspire the dishes we create. Having a role where I’m able to make decisions to have ethically sourced ingredients, whether it’s fair trade chocolate, free-range meats, or organic produce I know it aligns with the values of the business and the owners, so it’s reassuring to know they support those decisions.”

Ezra, Kitchen Manager

Our place has been a favourite spot for Wellingtonians for the last 100 years. We’re happy to be able to offer a great range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free kai. We use only free-farmed pork, and free-range chicken & eggs in our kitchen. We recycle our glass, plastic, cardboard and paper, and utilise a composting system. And it won’t stop there! We’d love to see you at ours soon.
