We joined CoGo to help us better improve our sustainability efforts both from a business perspective as well as fulfilling our obligations to our valued customers. During 2019, we will seek feedback from our customers to better understand their concerns and identify actions we can take towards alleviating many of these.

"I love that we are actively recycling in our workplace. By being able to actually see the amount we recycle everyday, in particular - soft plastics, and knowing that it doesn't end up in the landfill and waterways makes it real and it makes me feel proud. If we all do our bit, we can make a difference for positive environmental change to ensure the sustainability of our planet for current and future generations and to support long term ecological balance”

Sarah, Delicatessen Assistant Manager

“As a family-owned business, it has been invigorating to grasp the opportunity in making positive change for how we approach our waste. Over the last six months, we have instigated some big changes in how we operate to improve being a more sustainable business. We now have soft plastic bins in all our departments, our recycling bins are emptied three times per week, Kai To Compost empty their bins every day and our landfill bin collections have reduced significantly.

One of the areas we are most proud of is our relationship with Kaibosh. Since September 2017, we have been donating our chilled & frozen edible foods to Kaibosh, who then distribute it to their charities that feed people in our community, who are most in need.”

Ash, Store Manager - Services

As well as offering all of New Zealand’s favourite grocery brands, we pride ourselves on bringing you a fantastic array of products from around the world. We have a large selection of Vegan, Gluten Free, Organic and Free Range products, as well as our famous in-store Bakery and much more! We are proud to be a locally owned family business and are passionate about serving our community and working sustainably.

We are committed to a sustainable future and are working hard to continue our achievements in this area. One of the changes we are most proud of is introducing composting. In January 2018, we sent over 8 tonnes of food waste to Kai to Compost. Our staff are excited to see that their hard work is making a difference. Complementing this fantastic diversion is the many thousands of kilos of edible food that is provided to our charity partners, including Kaibosh, for redistribution.
