Day 10 : Plant trees

Why should we plant native trees ?

Together, we can make a major impact on climate change and help our environment simply by planting native trees in New Zealand. As they grow, these native trees will help to remove up to 3 million tonnes of carbon from our atmosphere.

Trees offer benefits to individual landowners, communities, catchments, regions, and Aotearoa as a whole, as they help to deal with environmental issues such as erosion, improve water quality, reduce the effects of climate change by absorbing CO2, improve land productivity, support Māori values and aspirations, provide habitats for many native birds and species, and enhance natural landscapes…

Plus it’s fun, and it’s a great way to meet new people that care as much about the environment as you do.
